Struthers Middle School October 2017 Newsletter

We want to thank all parents, students and staff for an outstanding beginning to the 2017-2018 school year. We are in our 2nd year of our 1 to 1 Chromebook program. We also implemented a new math program for students in the sixth through eighth grade called Carnegie Learning. Our athletic teams have had competitive games and our cross-country runners have all set new personal best times.

At SMS we believe the performance of the school rises or falls on behavior. We expect all of our stakeholders to live "Above the Line" in everything they do. Above the Line behaviors are conscious and thoughtful - a choice made in alignment with one's goals. They are also intentional and skillful behaviors that must be taught and learned.

Below the line behaviors are impulsive, resistant, take little effort or skill, are comfortable and convenient. Below the line behaviors are characterized by the following actions: blaming others, complaining about circumstances, and defending one's self.
