Grant Funded Fitness Fair to be Held for Students at Struthers City Schools

On Friday, May 12, Struthers City Schools will host a Fitness Fair from 4-6 p.m. for Struthers students in grades K-6 on the high school track. The event is funded through a Safe Routes to School grant through the ODOT’s “Every Move You Make, Make It Safe” Campaign.

The Mayor of Struthers, Terry P. Stocker, will kick off the fair by walking the first lap around the track and highlighting the Safe Routes Grant. Afterward, children in attendance will be able to walk the track for prizes, as well as enjoy the other activities provided along with music from DJ Anthony.

The fair will feature a variety of stations and tents from local businesses with different activities for the students to participate in. Stations include: ZUMBA lessons every 15 minutes, Iron Man Warehouse Obstacle Course on the football field, karate lessons from Ohio BJJ and Self Defense Academy, CrossFit sessions every 15 minutes, lessons on how to exercise, bicycle and pedestrian safety procedures, and more.

The Struthers School Foundation for Educational Excellence will also have a table set up with information on their upcoming Fourth of July 5k Run. Food and refreshments will be provided for attendees, as well as the Akron Children’s Hospital Hydration Station. PLEASE NOTE: In the case of inclement weather, the Fitness Fair will take place in the Struthers High School Fieldhouse.
