Struthers High School to Host 2016 Hope Classic Showcase

Everyone is invited to the Struthers High School Fieldhouse on Saturday, December 10 at 3 p.m. as the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley presents the 2016 Hope Classic: High School Basketball Showcase.

The event begins at 3 p.m. and will feature four straight game sessions. The afternoon’s scheduled line-up is listed below:

  • Game 1 (Girls-3pm): Youngstown Ursuline vs Austintown Fitch
  • Game 2 (Girls-4:30pm): Jackson Milton vs. Struthers
  • Game 3 (Boys-6pm): Lowellville vs. Springfield Local
  • Game 4 (Boys-7:30pm): Bristol vs. LaBrae

The Hope Classic Showcase was created in 2011 as a unique way of doing something different that involved boys and girls high school basketball. This event will bring together some of the best local talent and teams to play against one another for a great day of basketball. Proceeds from this event will be donated by the foundation to help chronically/terminally ill children.

The Hope Foundation was founded in 2007 after the success of it’s Game of Hope Charity Basketball Game. Over the past ten years, events like the Hope Classic have successfully raised $100,000 for the Hope Foundation.

To attend, tickets are available for purchase at the door for $7 for adults and $4 for youth age 12 and under. Each ticket is valid for admission to all four basketball games. For more information, contact Nancy Knight, Struthers Athletic Director at (330) 750-1062, ext. 41395.
