Struthers City School District Says Thank You to Credit Union for Generous Donation
In mid-September, the Struthers Federal Credit Union graciously donated approximately $600 worth of school supplies to the Struthers City School District. The members of the credit union joined together to donate school supplies or matching cash gifts to purchase the supplies needed, including several TI-83 calculators.
“When it comes to kids, our members really step up to the plate,” commented Linda Krestel, Struthers Federal Credit Union employee. “Their hearts are with our schools, so this project was definitely well received.”
Joe Nohra, Struthers City School District Superintendent, along with Struthers Elementary School Principal, Dennis Hynes, Struthers Middle School Principal, Pete Pirone, and Struthers High School Principal, Roger Day visited the credit union on Wednesday, November 18 to extend a special thank you. Also, two 3rd grade students, Natalie Burosky and Sammy Brodman, along with their teacher, Amy Sainato, attended the event to learn more about the credit union and tour the office.
“We would like to extend an extra special thank you to the Struthers Federal Credit Union for their generous donation to our schools,” said Nohra. “They have given us a lot of support over the years and we are truly grateful to them.”
The Struthers Federal Credit Union was originally a credit union for school employes but has since grown as a financial partner to those who live, work, or worship within the Struthers School District.
During its years in operation, their membership grew, and in 1987, the credit union merged with YD Employees Federal Credit Union. Since then both membership and product offerings continue to expand. Finally in 2014, Struthers Federal Credit Union opened a new office location where they continue to serve thousands of members.
